I think one of the reasons why King Arthur is so popular, is that hearing stories about lush, green scenery with Celtic castles immediately peaks people's attention. Everyone likes hearing stories about magic and adventurous knights, and the fact that King Arthur mythology takes place in Britain certainly adds to the appeal.
