While I was reading Avalon High, Will's stepbrother Marco reminded me of Jason Dean (aka J.D.) from Heathers. Maybe what Ellie's friends say about Marco is true, or maybe it's all empty rumor—maybe he didn't actually attempt to kill Mr. Morton—but there's still something off about him. In "Freeze Your Brain" (from the Heathers musical), there's clearly something off about J.D. (Y'all know he's also a creepy, good-looking, murderous teen in a high school story, right?) Oh, and he's lost a parent, too, just like Marco.

Happiness Comes When Everything Numbs

Will probably watched High School Musical 2
While reading the first half of Avalon High, I noticed that Will likes a lot of the things that the teens from High School Musical 2 like. He enjoys partying, being with friends, and the warm summer weather when sailing and hiding in that ravine.

Excalibur and the Master Sword
There seems to be a parallel between the story of Arthur pulling out Excalibur from the rock and the Master Sword from the Legend of Zelda. The Master Sword from Zelda is also stuck in a rock for Link to pull out. The Master Sword is basically Link's Excalibur. It's a badass sword that Link must procure at the beginning of his adventures to use against every foe of the game.

Quest Song?
I selected this song because it talks of Gawain's journey in
my mind. Each of the songs three parts can be molded to talk about Gawain's journey to the Green Knight. The first part is him excited to go to Wales and find the Green
Knight. The second part of the song is him having a good time, but having to
leave the castle. The last two lines are him facing the Green Knight; "No
use in you runnin', or screamin' and cryin'; Cause you got a home as long as
I've mine." The first line represents the possibility of the coming death.
The second line represents the Green Knight and Gawain becoming friendly at the
end of the conflict.
